LA JOLLA, CALIFORNIA

14 x 18
oil/canvas board/framed
$300

Earlier this year my husband and I visited Southern California with several missions in mind.  First, I took a wonderful workshop with Leslie Saeta in Pasadena.  Loved it!!  After the workshop we drove south to Yorba Linda to spend some time with our daughter and her family.  A few days with our very active, very chatty and very darling little granddaughter, I remembered why women have babies when they're young!!!  We, of course, wouldn't have traded a minute of our time there.

Next we decided to just get in the car and 'go'.  No plan, just drive and stop wherever and whenever we spotted something wonderful to see or do.  Of course that included lots of time in Laguna Beach (where we lived for several years, and for me, miss it terribly), visiting our old house a block from the beach sniff sniff and just luxuriating in Laguna and all its beauty.  So many artists have painted so many paintings of Laguna and it's pretty obvious why.  Everywhere you turn is something great to paint!

Driving further south, stopping to eat at some of our favorite places and to take pictures along Coast Highway, we arrived in La Jolla about mid-afternoon.  The sun was high in the sky, the weather was, well, perfect, the smell of the ocean filled the air and I was in artist heaven!  This photo is one of millions (!) that I took in La Jolla, so there'll be more to come!  Stay tuned!!!
